i was talking to somebody recently, and it led me on this spiral, okay ima yap about it here.

let's say we're hungry and we're looking around for some food. you'll check your fridge once, maybe twice to be sure you didn't miss anything, then your pantry, then maybe inside the oven, then maybe under the oven, then maybe in your backpack, and then you ask your roommates if they have something.

but do we ever just look in the backpack and find nothing, and try again a few minutes later, and find nothing again, and then proceed to be mad at life, and the backpack and everything else in this world?

obviously no. so why the hell do we do this with life achievements?

why do we even think of achievements as goals that are specific things that happen or specific places you wanna be?

isn't the ultimate achievement, a feeling?

think about it, you only want to be something, or go somewhere, or ~do someone~ because of the feeling. we're in reality, hunting a specific feeling. this feeling leads to us being happy in some way. so shouldn't our goals and achievements be those feelings? and not the actions themselves?

like i want to travel as much as possible, because i like the feeling of being in a new place you don't know much about, blending in to the masses, capturing stuff i have never seen before, and getting to watch the same sunset from a different angle and environment.

if you think about it, i can do all of this without needing to travel to a completely different country. the goal is to feel those things, and i can feel them 5 miles away from home or 50 miles or 5000 miles, it's still gonna be new.

i wanna go to the gym and eat better and be fitter, because i wanna look better, i wanna move faster. and honestly speaking, move faster, might be a directly related thing, but looking better? has nothing to do with how fit you are. it matters, to an extent, but not completely. we all know a shitton of people who pull off fits like insane but are no where near as fit as they'd want to be.

we shouldn't be chasing actions or places or times.

we should be chasing feelings.

what you feel is the one thing that matters the most.

enough reading, go chase a new feeling now.
